In the immediate aftermath of World War II, as the world struggles to make sense of the horrors revealed by the Holocaust, U.S. Army psychiatrist Lieutenant Colonel Douglas Kelley (Rami Malek) is given an extraordinary assignment - to assess the mental state of Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe), former Reichsmarschall and Hitler's closest ally, and to investigate the thinking of other high-ranking Nazi leaders.

Meanwhile, the Allies are led by the determined and principled U.S. Attorney General, Supreme Court Justice Robert H. Jackson (Michael Shannon), along with Sergeant Howie Triest (Leo Woodall), David Maxwell-Fyfe (Richard E. Grant), Gustav Gilbert (Colin Hanks), Colonel John Amen (Mark O'Brien), and Burton C. Andrus (John Slattery), who undertake an unprecedented task - to create the first international tribunal to hold the Nazi regime accountable for its crimes against humanity.

Delving into the minds of his "patients," Kelley soon finds himself in a complex psychological duel with Göring, a man whose charm and cunning reveal a painful truth: that even ordinary people can be capable of unimaginable evil.
