Sebastian and Alicja have been happily together for years. But their home in the suburbs of eastern Berlin is close to various temptations, and the longing for freedom arises from time to time. Sebastian suggests an open relationship, which brings a new spark, but also puts a strain on the relationship. Can trust be maintained if they want different things?

Director Joanna Ratajczak’s documentary explores social norms and expectations of a relationship. The main characters of this revealing film are her friends and she has been allowed to witness their most intimate moments, showing the whole picture of the cracking idyll.

The film raises questions about what the chances are for a relationship based on trust these days, when there is a growing number of alternatives to monogamy, and new potential partners are just one swipe away. On the other hand, many people have more conservative views and desires, and it can be challenging to make visible or verbalise one’s own feelings. Ratajczak does not moralise or offer easy answers. The film creates an atmosphere where you can feel the relationship continuing to grow and develop.
